Benefits of Using a Pole Barn as a Commercial Building

When people think of pole barns, they typically think of shelters for animals, vehicles, and hay, but they can be used for so much more. Pole barns are used for many types of commercial buildings, including businesses, churches, and municipal buildings. Here are some of the benefits of using a pole barn for a commercial purpose.

Most people think of steel pole barns, but the truth is they can have many exterior finishes, including brick, plaster, and concrete. They are ideal for many purposes, as long as you don’t need more than two stories.

Pole barns are more energy-efficient than steel buildings. Steel framing conducts heat and cold, which contributes to high heating and cooling costs. Pole barns do not have exterior steel frames and have higher quality insulation on exterior walls and ceilings. This can contribute to lower energy bills year-round.

Stud wall buildings are designed in such a way that the walls throughout the structure support the roof. If you want to remove a wall, it can affect the support of the whole building. Pole barns have a flexible design that allows you to easily remove a wall without affecting the structure of the building.

Pole barns can be designed with large access ways. This is helpful if you need to move large equipment in and out, as you would at a warehouse. The column and truss design does not depend on the walls for reinforcement as much as a stud-wall building.

A commercial building needs an HVAC system, plumbing, electrical wiring, and dry wall or other wall materials. Pole barns are compatible with all of these features.

Architects charge hefty fees, but you can bypass those fees by working directly with a pole barn design and construction company. This will lead to a building with a lower cost per square foot.
